Walkthrough[edit]

Speak with Rytlock in his office at the top of the Black Citadel to receive the briefing for the mission. Essentially, your traitorous Flame Legion father wishes to change sides and help out the Black Citadel vs the Flame Legion, and you have been selected to bring him in.

In the next instance by the Toppled Wall you will quickly realize that the area is infested with harpies. Make your way up the stairs (ahead at on the right as you enter the instance), and then turn around and head west across the top of the wall to a passage where you will find Clement Forktail, your father. A cinematic will play, where Clement explains that Flame Legion assassins will be shortly at your location. Sure enough they appear from the east when the cinematic ends. Defeat them to trigger yet another cinematic which marks the end of this instance.

In the next mission you will find yourself needing to visit the eastern side of the Plains of Ashford - so make sure you unlock the Ascalon City Waypoint a short distance to the east of the instance marker before returning to the Black Citadel.

Return to the stockade in the Black Citadel (head down the ramp far below Rytlock's office) and speak with Clement to end the mission.

Dialogue[edit]

Blood Tribune Quarters[edit]

Entering Rytlock's office:

(if Iron Legion)
Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: So we're agreed: my legionnaire will report to you for the duration of this mission.
Rytlock Brimstone: It's the only smart choice. Your legionnaire's got the skills, and a personal stake in this.
(if Ash Legion)
Tribune Torga Desertgrave: So we're agreed: my legionnaire will report to you for the duration of this mission.
Rytlock Brimstone: It's the only smart choice. Your legionnaire's got the skills, and a personal stake in this.

Talking to Rytlock Brimstone (cinematic):

(if Ash or Iron Legion)
Rytlock Brimstone: You heard your tribune: your tail is mine for the duration. Now, tell me what you know about your sire, and make it quick.
(if Blood Legion)
Rytlock Brimstone: We've got a delicate situation here, Legionnaire. Tell me what you know about your sire, and make it quick.
<Character name>: Name: Clement Forktail. Rank: Flame Legion shaman. He's a notorious traitor and an enemy of the Black Citadel.
<Character name>: Not to mention an embarrassment to me. I've broken several jaws reminding people that I'm not responsible for my father's actions.
Rytlock Brimstone: I know. I've seen the incidents reports. And now Forktail wants to turn himself in. Claims he'll provide critical information on Flame Legion activities.
Rytlock Brimstone: The catch is, he'll only turn himself to you. After all these years, he wants us to think he's seen the errors in his ways.
<Character name>: I'll be happy to collect him for you, Tribune. Just don't expect a tearful reunion between sire and cub.
Rytlock Brimstone: I expect you to handle this with your usual efficiency. Forktail will be waiting at the Toppled Wall. Bring him in—alive. Dismissed!

Talking to your allies:

Rytlock Brimstone: The Flame Legion's really been burning the citadel's tail. when they're not trying to tear us down, they're recruiting our best magic-users. They want to enslave us all again.
Talk more option tango.png Don't they have enough soldiers? Why recruit so hard?
It strengthens them and weakens us. Right now, their numbers are equal to other legions. But they don't let women fight, so they need magic and press gangs to even it up.
Ferocity Long past time we wiped them out. Leave it to me.
Talk end option tango.png Whatever the Flame Legion is up to, I'll stop it.
Laria Sharpeye: Clement Forktail, traitor, murderer wanted for multiple actions against the Black Citadel. Quite a sire you have.
Talk more option tango.png Better than some, worse than others.
Some cubs—like me—never see their sires after the farhar. That's good or bad, depending.
Talk end option tango.png Good, bad, absent—no sire is perfect.
Talk end option tango.png He's just another Flame Legion traitor.

Talking to your sparring partner:

Clawspur: Your sire's in the stockade, eh? Mine's been dead for years.
Charisma And I bet he still talks more than you. Come on, let's see what Forktail knows.
Talk end option tango.png Let's go make sure mine is still kicking.
Dinky: You never told me your sire was famous. Wait, what's that other word that means famous, but in a crummy way?
Charisma "Crummy famous" works for me, Dinky. Let's go find out what he knows.
Talk end option tango.png Infamous? Notorious? Whatever it is, we've got work to do.
Euryale: If my father was a Flame Legion traitor, I'd be wiping my boots on a rug of his skin. No offense.
Dignity Let's go see what he knows. And let me do the talking. No offense.
Talk end option tango.png When I'm offended, you'll know. Let's move out.
Maverick: They tried to lock me up for debauchery, but the tribune was just jealous of my awesome. No tiny jail can contain Maverick's awesome.
Dignity Or shut Maverick's mouth. Come on, hotshot. Let's see what Forktail knows.
Talk end option tango.png Let's go get my sire and see if one can contain him.
Reeva: Your sire was Flame Legion? Didn't know mine well, but I remember he'd call me "Kitten". After battle, he'd notch his mace for every kill, laughing at each one.
Charisma It's good to laugh. Come on Kitten, let's go see what Forktail knows.
Talk end option tango.png No one's laughing about my sire right now. Come on, let's go get him.

The Toppled Wall[edit]

Entering the Instance:

(depending on character's Legion)
Biography Blood Legion.png Elexus Shredskin: Don't worry. We'll keep your sire safe until you get back.
Biography Ash Legion.png Yahuk Fellstrike: We got this, boss. Nothing bad will happen to your sire while we're around.
Biography Iron Legion.png Luccia Wildeye: We'll keep a lid on things here while you're gone.

Cinematic after finding Clement Forktail:

Clement Forktail: It's good to see you, cub. I see you've made some changes to your warband. I wasn't sure if the Citadel would actually send you...or if you'd come.
<Character name>: I came to bring you in, Forktail. That's all. You're going to pay for your crimes and provide the information you promised.
Clement Forktail: That's what I want, too, but the Flame Legion doesn't. They've been sending assassins after me ever since I reached out to the Black Citadel.
Clement Forktail: They were right on my tail until I holed up here. If they saw you come in, they're probably on their way.
<Character name>: Let them come. Warband! The Flame Legion is about to join this party. Spread out and defend the hallway!

During fight with the Flame Legion:

Clement Forktail: Get the shaman first! He's making the others stronger!
Clement Forktail: Clavus? I supposed I should be flattered the Flame Legion considers me such a threat.
Clavus the Breathstealer: You're dead, Clement. And before you fall, we'll make you watch your cub die.

Cienamtic after defeating the Flame Legion:

<Character name>: What was that, Forktail? Some kind of ambush? What's your game?
Clement Forktail: This is no game. Those assassins were after me, not you. Flame is planning something big, and the entire Black Citadel is in danger.
Clement Forktail: They'll kill me and anyone with me to keep this secret. Just get me back to the Citadel. Once we're safe, I'll tell you what you want to know.
<Character name>: Yes. You will. Warband! Take the prisoner back to the Citadel's stockade and lock him up. I'll follow and make sure you're not being pursued.
<Character name>: Watch for ambushes along the way. Brimstone wants Forktail alive, and that's how we're going to deliver him. Move out!

At the Citadel Stockade[edit]

Talking to the NPC in the prison:

Spark Smogbreath: You'll tell 'em, right? You'll tell 'em I didn't run. I may be a thief, but I'm not crazy. The safest place for me is inside one of these cells.
Talk end option tango.png You're lucky to be alive, thief. If you want to stay that way, keep out of my sight.

Cinematic near Clement:

Seneca the Relentless: So this is the traitor's cub. Tell me, does treason run in the family?
<Character name>: Does stupidity run in yours? Address a legionnaire like that again and I'll put you on scrap duty in the Brand. Now walk away. I need to talk to this prisoner.
Seneca the Relentless: Yes, Legionnaire. Sorry, Legionnaire. I'll leave you to your interrogation. And if the prisoner gets damaged in the process, I won't have seen a thing.
Clement Forktail: I'm glad you're here. There isn't much time: Flame is planning to move against the citadel's highest ranking officers, but I don't know when or how.
<Character name>: That's convenient...for you. How do I get more details?
Clement Forktail: Head out to Lamia Mire. There's a Flame Legion recruiter there named Skulltwister. I've led him to think you're interested in changing sides, like I was.
Clement Forktail: He'll treat you like a potential convert. If he won't give you the details you need, you'll have to force them out of him. But from what I've seen, you can handle that.
<Character name>: Don't try and flatter me. I'll check out this Skulltwister, but if you're wasting my time, you'll suffer for it.

Talking to Clement after the cutscene:

Clement Forktail: I know you have no reason to trust me. I wouldn't trust me, either. Not yet. But I can earn your respect.
Talk more option tango.png You defected to the Flame Legion. You're a traitor. Nothing can change that.
I was a new legionnaire, like you. They worked on me...on my entire warband for weeks. Just meet the recruiter. Flame Legion will show, I swear.
Talk end option tango.png This'd better work, I'll feed your tail to the crows.

Talking to your sparring partner:

Clawspur: Meet a Flame Legion recruiter? Is that smart?
Talk more option tango.png I have to try. I'm not worried—you'll be backing me up.
I still don't like it, but you're the boss.
Talk end option tango.png You'll like this: once we get the info, that recruiter is fair game. Let's move.
Dinky: Meeting a Flame Legion recruiter is like smearing honey on yourself and jumping into a bear's mouth.
Talk more option tango.png Thanks for that image. I know it's not ideal, but I have to do it.
Good thing I'm coming. If you went in alone, you'd be there alone. You go into danger by yourself, I want to come with you.
Talk end option tango.png Agreed. Let's move out.
Euryale: That traitor wants you to meet with some Flame Legion puke? No way I'm letting that happen.
Talk more option tango.png It's happening. What are you so worried about? You'll be there to protect me.
But it's not...I don't...fine. I still say it's too dangerous. I know you're in charge, but why don't you ever do what I say?
Talk end option tango.png Because I'm in charge. Let's move.
Maverick: I don't know. Meeting with a Flame Legion recruiter sounds stupid. Especially if that guy told you to.
Talk more option tango.png I've got to. And you'll be with me, so what could go wrong?
All right, boss. You do your thing, and I'll make sure you come back.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks, Maverick. Move out.
Reeva: Meeting some Flame Legion stinker in some sort of a secret meeting, are you? That sounds like no fun at all.
Talk more option tango.png I've got to. Besides, you'll be there. When are you ever not fun?
Never, that's when! All right, I'm convinced. Let's go get 'em, boss!
Talk end option tango.png I give the orders around here, soldier. Let's go get 'em!

My story[edit]

Ash Tribune Quarters loading screen.jpg

I reported to Tribune Rytlock Brimstone, who had an unusual mission for me: my sire Clement Forktail, a Flame Legion traitor, wants to turn himself in and share vital information. Clement will only turn himself in to me, so I'm going out to bring my father back for debriefing and Black Citadel justice.

My sire Clement Forktail was waiting to turn himself in to me, but there Flame Legion assassins tried to kill him before he could share what he knows. My warband and I defeated the assassins and I sent Forktail back to the Black Citadel to be interrogated.

I spoke with my father, Clement Forktail, in the Black Citadel stockade. He was eager to prove he's left the Flame Legion behind, and he told me how to contact the Flame Legion so I can continue my investigation.
