Playable race is a term used to refer to the types of creatures a player can create a character of in the Guild Wars universe.
Five playable races have been announced for Guild Wars 2 so far;
It was stated in a Eurogamer interview with Eric Flannum and Ben Miller that in future additional races will be added.
The Movement of the World suggests that the races are of roughly equal strength and describes further the interrelations and history of each of the above races since Guild Wars 1.
