The Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) is an annual gaming show that is held in or around Seattle, Washington, each summer. The show is hosted by the creators of the popular online comic, Penny Arcade.

ArenaNet has attended PAX for many years. Starting with a small booth in 2004, before the launch of the first Guild Wars campaign, the studio has taken part every year since, and is now esteemed as one of the keystones of the show.
In 2009, ArenaNet hosted a giveaway of The Art of Guild Wars 2, a hardbound book with 128 pages featuring Guild Wars 2 art. The cover of the book may be seen on the Guild Wars 2 website. It has been stated by ArenaNet that the artbook will come to sale in near future. Artists from the team were signing copies of the book at PAX. There were also talks about the upcoming novel, Fall of Ascalon.
