Trading Post

The trading post is the Guild Wars 2 player trading system. It is global, enabling trade between all players across different servers.[1] The Trading Post works like an auction house where a player can sell and buy items without the need to trade with a buyer or seller in person.

You can buy from or sell to the Trading Post from anywhere in the game by right-clicking the item you want to sell. You only have to go to a Trading Post to collect an item you bought on it or the profit from something you sold through it.

The Trading Post currency is in-game gold. The fee for trading on the Trading Post is 5% of the sales price.

[edit] Selling and buying

To sell an item, right-click its icon in your inventory and choose 'Sell at Trading Post'. The window that pops up will immediately show the current buying and selling options and values for all items that currently are in your inventory. You can also choose the "Sell" tab at the left of the Commerce panel to get an overview for the items of your choice.

  • 'Meet the highest buyer' to sell instantly for the price being set by the currently highest bidder on the Trading Post.
  • 'Match lowest seller' puts your items on the Trading Post for a price that matches the currently lowest selling price. You won't sell instantly but you'll sell when a buyer is prepared to buy your items at the proposed sales price.

To buy, choose the "Buy" tab at the top left of the Commerce panel, or if you want to buy more of an item you already have, right-click the icon in your inventory and choose 'Buy at Trading Post'.

You can also search and/or select an item to see a listing of other available sales and their prices. Clicking several stacks of choice from the listing automatically shows you the total amount of gold you need to sell or buy these. You can then proceed to buy them instantly or you can place a custom offer to buy when a seller is prepared to sell his items at your proposed buying price.

Don't forget to go to a Trading Post to pick up the money you earned or the items you bought.

[edit] Gem Trading

Through the Currency Exchange window you can either trade gold for gems or trade your gems for gold. It shows market data like the price of recent gem sales, a price graph over the last few hours of trading, Average Price and Highest and Lowest prices over the last 5 days etc.

[edit] Trending

The Trading Post is capable of displaying Market Data: the history and pricing trends of item values. It shows the Top Value Items, Top Supplied Items, Top Demanded Items and Top Trade Items.

[edit] Notes

While items can only be put up for sale when in-game, it will be possible at a later date to browse, bid, or cancel auctions and offers when out of-game and logged into a web browser. A sale can be completed whilst the seller is offline, with the coin going into an account bank.[2]
