Tether yourself to your target. If they move beyond the range threshold, pull them to you. Grants might and reveals your target every second.

  • Your character will occasionally shout one of the following lines when you pull a foe:
    • You won't escape!
    • Get back here!
    • Not on my watch!
    • Stand and fight!

  • Increased might duration from 6 seconds to 9 seconds in PvP only.
August 23, 2022
  • (PvE only) Damage bonus to tethered target increased from 10% to 15%. Might stacks per second reduced from 3 to 1, but they are now applied to up to 5 allied targets within a range of 360.
February 28, 2022 End of Dragons release:
  • (Undocumented) Added tooltip fact Defiance Break.
February 25, 2020 Competitive content update:
  • (Competitive split) Reduced the number of might stacks from 2 to 1.
December 11, 2018
  • The duration of might that this trait grants has been split between game modes and will now apply 2 stacks for 6 seconds in PvP while keeping its current 3 stacks for 8 seconds in PvE and WvW.

  • Magebane Tether: This trait is no longer split between game modes and will now apply the 10% damage bonus to tethered targets in all modes.

  • Magebane Tether: Tethered targets take 10% bonus strike damage from the spellbreaker in PvE only.

  • Fixed a text error with the effect associated with this trait that stated it applied vulnerability instead of revealed.
