Dialogue[edit]

If charr
Hello. I'm Ilaria Hammersteel, official Iron Legion historian. My orders are to share the officially sanctioned history of the Foefire with all who pass by.
Talk more option tango.png I never get tired of hearing that story. Fire away.
The events that led up to the Foefire go back hundreds of years to the first war between us and the humans.
Talk more option tango.png When the trouble all began.
For generations, humans drove us further and further from our homeland. The endless setbacks divided the legions. Fire shamans took advantage of the chaos and slowly usurped power.
Talk more option tango.png Yeah, things went from bad to worse.
The shamans claimed that the only way to defeat the humans was to worship the fire god. When we did, the tide of the war turned. We began reclaiming the land humans had plundered.
Talk more option tango.png And then?
The human king, Adelbern, stubbornly refused to surrender. The humans retreated back within the walls of Ascalon City. For thirty years, they held it. Until finally, they fell.
Talk more option tango.png The tide had turned.
The desperate, doomed human king used treacherous magic—the Foefire—to slaughter us. But is also transformed the Ascalonians into a ghastly army of ghosts. Those ghosts hold the city wall to this day.
Talk more option tango.png It was a dark day for all of Tyria.
And now, the legions dedicate themselves to glorious defeat of the Adelbern and the ghosts of Ascalon, when we'll be able to, at last, reclaim the land that is rightfully ours.
Talk end option tango.png We all look forward to that day.
Talk end option tango.png I know the rest. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png Sorry, I should've gone to the bathroom before the story started. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk more option tango.png We all know that story by heart. Don't waste your time.
As I said, my orders are to tell the story of Foefire to everyone. Should I summon the couple of legion guards to help fulfill my orders?
Talk more option tango.png Okay, I guess I can spare a few minutes. Go ahead. (Same as "The events that led up to..." above)
Talk more option tango.png Are you threatening me if I don't listen to your history lesson?
As old saying goes, "Those who ignore history are doomed to death by devourer."
Talk more option tango.png Fine. Just tell me about Foefire. (Same as "The events that led up to..." above)
Talk more option tango.png I'm not ignoring history. I'm ignoring you.
Oh, come on. Humor me.
Talk more option tango.png You wore me down. Tell me about Foefire. (Same as "The events that led up to..." above)
Talk end option tango.png No. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png Maybe some other time. So long.
Talk end option tango.png Now I really have no interest in hearing about the Foefire again. Bye.
Talk end option tango.png I don't have time to hear it right now. Good-bye.
If human
Hello. I'm Ilaria Hammersteel, official Iron Legion historian. My orders are to share the officially sanctioned history of the Foefire with all who pass by.
Talk more option tango.png From the charr point of view? Yes, go ahead.
The events that lead up to the Foefire go back hundreds of years to the first war between my people and yours.
Talk more option tango.png The beginning of our winning streak.
For generations, you humans drove us further and further from our homelands. The endless setbacks divided our legions. Flame shamans took advantage of the chaos and slowly usurped power.
Talk more option tango.png Were the shamans really that bad?
The shamans claimed that the only way to defeat you humans was to worship their fire god. When we did, the tide of the war turned, and we began reclaiming the land you had plundered.
Talk more option tango.png And then?
Your King Adelbern stubbornly refused to surrender. We drove your people back into Ascalon City. For thirty years, they cowered inside as they held the walls. Until the day came when they fell.
Talk more option tango.png But it wasn't over.
Your desperate, mad king used treacherous magic—the Foefire—to slaughter my people. Unfortunately for your people, it also transformed them into a ghastly army of ghosts. Those ghosts hold the city walls to this day.
Talk more option tango.png It was a dark day for all of Tyria.
And now, we must defeat Adelbern and the ghosts of Ascalon. Then, at last, all things can return to the way they should be.
Talk end option tango.png We'll see what happens after we all defeat the ghosts. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I don't have time to hear it right now. Good-bye.
If asura, norn or sylvari
Hello. I'm Ilaria Hammersteel, official Iron Legion historian. My orders are to share the officially sanctioned history of the Foefire with all who pass by.
Talk more option tango.png By all means. Tell me the story.
For generations, humans drove us further and further from our homelands. The endless setbacks divided the legions. Flame shamans took advantage of the chaos and slowly assumed power.
Talk more option tango.png What did the shamans do once they were in control?
The shamans claimed that the only way to defeat the humans was to worship their fire gods. When we did, the tide of the war turned, and we began reclaiming the land the humans had plundered.
Talk more option tango.png What happened next?
The human king, Adelbern, stubbornly refused to surrender. We drove the humans back into Ascalon City. For thirty years they cowered inside as they held the walls. Until the day came when they fell.
Talk more option tango.png What did the humans do?
The desperate, mad king used treacherous magic—the Foefire—to slaughter the charr. His spell also transformed the Ascalonians into a ghastly army of ghosts. Those ghosts hold the city walls to this day.
Talk end option tango.png Are you resigned to this fate?
No. Someday, we'll find a way to defeat Adelbern and the ghosts of Ascalon. And then, we'll finally reclaim all of our rightful land.
Talk end option tango.png I'm certain all here in Tyria anxiously await that day. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png Sorry, I should've gone to the bathroom before the story started. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I have to go. Good-bye.
Talk end option tango.png I don't have time to hear it right now. Good-bye.
