Facets of Darkness are small facets of Glint that assist the Facet Guardian in Glint's Lair during the Path of Fire story instance Crystalline Memories. Once one is defeated, it drops an orb of darkness that grants the player the effect Dark Attunement as well as the special action skill Crystalline Shatter, which can remove the Facet Guardian's shield and drain its entire defiance bar. Facets of Darkness continuously spawn during the parts of the fight where the Crystalline Shatter skill is required—otherwise they are replaced by Facets of Light.
