Exotic armor

Exotic armor is armor of FExotic rarity.

All exotic armor come with an upgrade slot and are soulbound on equip if not already bound on acquire.

Exotic armor can be obtained in a variety of ways.

Crafting

Level 80 exotic armor can be crafted by level 400 or higher Armorsmiths, Leatherworkers, and Tailors. Recipes can be bought from certain NPCs (e.g. Master craftsmans) or obtained from certain containers or recipe sheets.

Looting

Exotic armor can be dropped from the following sources as long as the character is at level 60 or above.^{[verification requested]}

• Killing any hostile NPC.
• Chance from World bosses and meta events
  • Bladed Armor Box for reaching tier 4 during Night and the Enemy in Verdant Brink
  • Leystone Coat Box from Hold the area while the Pact prepares to breach the gate in Dragon's Stand
• Completing various story missions
  • Box of Viper's Gear, Box of Minstrel's Gear, or Box of Trailblazer's Gear after Bitter Harvest story.
• Opening any container or chest that can drop CFine or higher equipment.
  • Leystone armor box from Noxious Pods
• Guild missions
• World versus World rank up rewards
• PvP and WvW reward tracks
• Opening Boxes or Satchels of armor. (e.g. Satchel of Berserker's Exalted Armor (light), Satchel of Berserker's Emblazoned Armor (medium) or Box of Berserker's Draconic Armor (heavy))
• Level rewards at levels 63
• Level-80 Equipment Package from the Level-80 Boost

Mystic Forge

The highest rarity of gear that can be obtained from the Mystic Forge by tossing in four ERare or FExotic armor is exotic. Note: Certain exotic armors cannot be obtained through this method.

• You cannot use a mix of rare and exotic equipment.
• There is an approximate 20% chance of obtaining an exotic armor when using four rare armor
• Using 4 exotic armor will always return a random exotic armor.
• Using a mixture of armor and weapons will result in either an armor or weapon. Exotic equipment cannot be mixed.

Trading Post

Exotic equipment can be purchased off the Trading Post.

Vendor

There are many vendors that sell exotic armor.

• Karma merchants in Orr - A full set costs 252,000 
• Dungeon Merchant vendor - A full set costs 1380 dungeon tokens
• Armor Master - A full set costs 5  44  and 950 
• Guild Commendation Trader
• Itzel Mastery Vendor in Verdant Brink or Auric Basin
  • Offers boxes of Bladed armor
  • All pieces are prefix selectable, but chest armor can not be brought
  • A full set (aside from chest armor) costs 5  and 2,500 Airship Parts
• Whispers Keeper in Dragon's Stand
  • Offers boxes of Leystone armor that have the Wanderer's prefix
  • A full set costs 370 Crystalline Ore, 550 Airship Parts, 550 Lump of Aurillium, and 550 Ley Line Crystals
