Acquisition[edit]

Found in the Ancient Chest within the south eastern section of Melandru's Refuge. The area is closed off until the torches guiding Priestess of Melandru are all successfully lit. However, the gate enabling easy access to the chest is blocked unless the Priestess of Melandru makes it to the gate. Thus, lighting the torches and using the following method to bypass the gate allows you to access the Ancient Chest. See Not All Who Wander Are Lost for a walkthrough of lighting the torches.

An alternative route to the chest would require Path of Fire expansion along with Springer and Skimmer mounts with the skill: Bond of Faith enabled. Use your Springer to get in to the cave where Lake Doric Insight: Melandru's Flourish is. Swim to the south of the cave where you will see an underwater gap which leads to a small lake. Use your Skimmer and Bond of Faith to jump on to the rock, then you will be able to access the Ancient Chest by either completing the small jumping puzzle or using your available mounts.

Note that even if you can access the chest from this alternative route, you will still need to wait for the night and complete the event. Trying to open the chest coming from that way may not work and you will get the message: "Chest appears to be empty" when trying to interact with it. In that case, just walk your way to the entrance of the mini-dungeon, get outside and come back in from the main entrance (you can skip the puzzle jump using gliders or mount). If it is the night and the event was already completed, the chest will then open.
