Emissary Vorpp near the portal at Crown Pavilion, Divinity's Reach.

After talking to Emissary Vorpp in Divinity's Reach, travel to Oogooth Waypoint in Gendarran Fields. Above ground, just north of the POI Quaggankeep Channel, you will find a Mysterious Essence at the portal invasion site.

You then need to find the person who witnessed the portal invasion in Ascalon Settlement. There are four possible candidates, the witness you are looking for is located next to the house with the vista, north of Ascalon Settlement Waypoint.

Vorpp now directs you to find the items needed for his portal construct. A group of Aetherblades will ambush you when approaching a component, each spawing 3-4 enemies including a Veteran.

Constructing a Portal Back Door

<Character name>,

To recap: I find myself at the center of a developing situation here in Divinity's Reach, following the attack at the Crown Pavilion by the sylvari villain Scarlet. Though she fortunately missed Queen Jennah, her intended target, Scarlet has taken some of my fellow emissaries and other innocents captive and has sealed them up with her in the wreckage of the pavilion.

In order to get you in there to free those hostages and bring Scarlet to justice, I need to reverse engineer the technology she's using to teleport her twisted puppets in and out of her lair. I plan to labor in my makeshift lab to duplicate one of Scarlet's portals, and as you come highly recommended, I'm attaching an apparatus for remote holographic communication in hopes that you can help with my fieldwork. Come find me here in Divinity's Reach if you have any questions.

Speaking to Emissary Vorpp
Listen up. We're here to investigate these portals and build our own portal device. I expect your cooperation. Let's start where these things first appeared...
Talk more option tango.png I'll get to it.
Speaking to him again before finding site of first portal invasion
Have you found the site of her first portal invasion yet? Reports say it was somewhere near the Ascalon Settlement in Gendarran Fields.
Talk end option tango.png Not just yet.
After interacting with Mysterious Essence
Emissary Vorpp: Well done. You've located the attack site. This is very useful data.
Emissary Vorpp: That sample forced me to rethink some of my assumptions. Now I need intel from an eyewitness to one of her portal attacks.
Speaking to witnesses
Child: Hi! I'm not supposed to talk to strangers! Want an apple?
Talk more option tango.png No, thanks. I'm looking for a witness to Scarlet's first invasion.
I was picking apples when my sister ran through the gate screaming. She looked really scared... I don't think she was hurt, but she said she needed to talk to the town guard. Maybe she saw something?
Talk end option tango.png Thank you. I'll keep looking.
Wounded Seraph Lieutenant: Ugh, my head hurts... You need something? Make it quick.
Talk more option tango.png I'm looking for someone who witnessed that first portal outside.
I heard it happen, but I didn't see anything; I was knocked out by one of the pirates on my rounds. Sasha was here a bit ago and seemed like she might have seen something. Up the hill, toward the ruins.
Talk end option tango.png I hope you feel better soon. Thanks for the information.
Seraph Archer: Hi there. I'm on duty as lookout, so please be brief.
Talk more option tango.png I'm looking for someone who witnessed the first of Scarlet's invasions.
That'd be Sasha, my sister. She's been running around town, looking for the Seraph captain. When I asked her what was wrong, she said she had overheard some pirate fellow saying concerning things.
Talk end option tango.png Okay, so she might be at the captain's quarters. Thank you.
Citizen: Is there something I can do for you?
Talk more option tango.png I've been told you witnessed one of Scarlet's first invasions.
Yes, I did. I overheard one of those sky pirates say they were going to establish permanent fixtures near the Vigil Keep; my wife and I live not too far from there.
Talk end option tango.png Thank you. You've been very helpful.
After speaking to the Citizen witness
Emissary Vorpp: Listen carefully: I need a focusing crystal from an Aetherblade captain, the oscillating diaphragm of a twisted horror...
Emissary Vorpp: ...and a translocator beacon from one of her giant portals.
After gathering first component
Emissary Vorpp: There's a sort of pattern to Scarlet's madness, but the more I catch a glimpse of it, the less I want to perceive.
After gathering second component
Emissary Vorpp: Just one more component. You've got this!
After gathering last component
Emissary Vorpp: Amazing work! Come back to me in Divinity's Reach and I'll install those final components. We'll stop her yet!
Speaking to Emissary Vorpp
Excellent. With this last bit of calibration, the back-door portal is ready. I'll leave the incursion to you and your colleagues, of course.
Talk more option tango.png How safe is this?
Without a stable portal at the exit point? Telling you the odds of injury might lower your morale. Suffice to say the arrangement is nonstandard.
Talk end option tango.png I'll have to take the risk.
Talk end option tango.png All right, time to take the fight to Scarlet.

My story[edit]

File:Clockwork Invasion.jpg

I traveled to Gendarran Fields to help regain control over the countryside and assist Vorpp in studying Scarlet's portal technology. While the city was occupied with Scarlet's invasion of Divinity's Reach, her clockwork beasts were tearing up the land outside.

Thankfully, by helping quell these threats we were able to gather more intel on Scarlet's portal technology and help Vorpp secure us a route into the Pavilion to rescue our friends and allies.
