Character selection screen

The Character selection screen is the first screen that appears when starting the game after the login screen. Here the player can choose to play, create or delete a character, as well as see character and account-wide progress.

Trivia

• Many of the character selection screens were updated to use higher quality images with the August 28, 2018 update.
• As part of the November 30, 2021 update, the character grid on the character selection screen dynamically adjusts the number of characters displayed based on resolution.
• The soundtrack playing in the character selection screen during the End of Dragons release was "End of Dragons" and "A New Era of Heroes".
• On the November 7, 2023 update, an option was added to select any of the Core/expansion backgrounds or a randomised background. This drop down box can be accessed via the cog icon at the top left of the character select screen. the dropdown selection is half way down the General options window.
• With the April 16, 2024 update, (© 2012-2024 ArenaNet, LLC) was added to the top of the character selection screen.
