Bongo the One-Eyed

Bongo the One-Eyed is a swordmaster and former teacher of Lord Faren and Minister Duran. He has since joined the Pact to fight against the Elder Dragons.

Biography[edit]

Early years[edit]

A famous swordmaster, Bongo was hired to teach many nobles in Divinity's Reach such as Lord Faren and Minister Duran.[1] The former's parents paid Bongo extra for their son's title.[2] During a dinner party, Faren randomly demanded a match, waved a bread knife around, and accidentally took out the swordmaster's eye.[3]

Heart of Thorns[edit]

After the incident with Faren, Bongo grew disillusioned with being a teacher. Wanting to do something more meaningful in his life, he joined the Pact in training soldiers, and was part of the Pact Fleet when it crashed during the campaign against the Elder Dragon Mordremoth in 1328 AE. While trying to regroup with other survivors in Verdant Brink, Bongo met with a group of proactive nobles led by Baroness Jasmina and helped improve Faren's skills as a swordsman if only to get Faren out of his sight. He later joined the Pact's assault on Mordremoth in Dragon's Stand.

Dialogue[edit]

Verdant Brink[edit]

During Salvage scrap from the crashed Pact airship for Bongo to reinforce the outpost
We need supplies to rebuild the defenses. Perhaps there's some scrap we can salvage from the wreckage.
Talk end option tango.png Very well, I'll look into that. Good-bye.
After Help Faren train to be a swordsmaster
Nightfall will be upon us soon. Hm. You look competent. If you can lend a hand against the Mordrem, I'd appreciate it.
Talk more option tango.png How do you know Lord Faren?
Faren? Yes, I know that...gentleman. He hired me to train him with a sword, but he was completely unteachable. You have no idea!
Talk back option tango.png I'd imagine he's a difficult student. Can I ask you something else?
Talk end option tango.png Thank you for your time, Master Bongo.
Talk more option tango.png How did you lose your eye?
Lord Faren. During a lunch break in our training, picked[sic] up a bread knife and started bandying it about like a madman. If you dine with Lord Faren, I offer you this advice: learn to duck.
Talk back option tango.png That's a tragic accident. Can I ask you something else?
Talk end option tango.png Thank you for your time, Master Bongo.
Talk more option tango.png When did you join the Pact?
I used to train nobility in swordplay, but one bad student soured me to that task. I wanted to do something more meaningful, so I joined the Pact.
Talk back option tango.png It's a meaningful choice, if a dangerous one. Can I ask you something else?
Talk end option tango.png Thank you for your time, Master Bongo.
Talk end option tango.png Thank you for your time, Master Bongo.
During Night and the Enemy
Mordrem appear in greater numbers at night. We sleep in shifts during the day to stay ready.
Talk end option tango.png Very wise. Thank you.

Dragon's Stand[edit]

When landing on his island first
Bongo the One-Eyed: Good of you to join our little island party.
After killing the Mouth of Mordremoth
Bongo the One-Eyed: Commander, an honor to fight alongside you.
<Character Name>: The honor was all mine.

Notes[edit]

  • In The Ringmaster, Faren suggests that Bongo had died; however, Bongo is shown alive and well in the Heart of Maguuma.
  • Bongo initially had both eyes in Dragon's Stand, but an eyepatch was added to his model there in a later patch.
