  • Report to Tribune Goreblade in Hero's Canton.

Walkthrough[edit]

Scout Fursta Farhunter is your first objective and will introduce you to the heart system. Speak to her and then proceed to assist allied charr in the area to fill a heart. Once a heart has been filled, check the mail interface for your new message and then go back to the Hero's Canton—your home instance—in the Black Citadel. From here on, events relating to your personal story are typically instanced, so only you, your party, and possibly NPCs will be able to assist in your task.

Upon arriving at the barracks, you'll find pairs of Flame Legion soldiers inside looking for your plans. You have your warband survivor with you, so as long as you only aggro one pair at a time, the fights should be relatively simple. Bundles are strewn across the barracks which may or may not help depending on your profession and skills.

After the Flame Legion are defeated, find the planter along the wall containing your Ghostbore plans. After retrieving the plans, talk to your warband survivor to complete the event.

Bhuer Goreblade, Tribune of the Iron Legion

URGENT: Report to Barracks

It is my sad duty to inform you that, despite your heroic actions during the recent defense of Smokestead, your warband was overwhelmed and suffered catastrophic losses to personnel. Therefore, I'm ordering you back to the Black Citadel immediately to discuss your next assignment.

—Tribune Bhuer Goreblade

Hero's Canton[edit]

Upon approaching sparring partner:

Clawspur: It's just you and me now. Doesn't seem like enough.
Dinky: Wait... we build things, right? We should build us a new warband.
Maverick: I'll miss the others. We'd better get some new recruits in here to take up the slack.
Reeva: First chance we get, I'm going to raise a 21-mug salute to our fallen friends.

Cinematic with Tribune Bhuer Goreblade:

Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: At ease, soldier. Your warband paid a heavy toll fending off the recent ghost incursion. Their names will be remembered with honor.
<Character name>: Thank you, Tribune. I plan to remember them by blasting apart every last ghost left out there.
Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: Imperator Smodur and I share your sentiment. The Iron Legion must find a way to end this ghost problem—for good. But to do that, we're going to need better weapons.
<Character name>: I might have just the thing, sir. I've been designing a firearm specifically to eradicate ghosts. I call it my Ghostbore musket.
Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: Ah, yes, I remember reading that proposal. Between that and your performance against Barradin, I'm promoting you to acting legionnaire. Do well, and it'll be permanent.
<Character name>: Thank you, sir, but my warband's been decimated. There's only one other soldier left.
Tribune Bhuer Goreblade: You can solve that problem the Iron Legion way. Build a new warband, and bring me a working prototype of that weapon. Clear?
<Character name>: Clear, sir. I'll build a warband and a weapon the Iron Legion can be proud to call their own.

Talking to sparring partner:

Clawspur: The faster we find those plans, the faster we can get permission to recruit for the warband.
Talk more option tango.png Hang on. I have another question.
Sure. Ask.
Talk more option tango.png Dinky. Euryale. Reeva and Maverick. What happened to us out there?
Bad luck. We got split up when the ghosts attacked, and they cut us down like wheat. I made it to higher ground.
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk quest option tango.png I'll meet you at the scrapyard, and we'll find those musket parts. (this is a misplaced dialogue option from a subsequent quest)
Talk end option tango.png The life of a soldier's filled with troubles. Let's get going.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's lieutenant. Did he die, too?
Nobody knows. Howl was in the crypts when Barradin collapsed'em. You dug out. He didn't.
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk more option tango.png No body? Nothing at all?
Not unless that sparkly trinket he'd found magically teleported him to the Shiverpeaks. He's rubble.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question for you.
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png Tell me about the Iron Legion.
Iron Legion rules Ascalon. It's our ancient homeland, and we've retaken it. Our imperator is Smodur the Unflinching. Tribune like Goreblade serve him directly. They're the general of the Iron Legion army.
Talk more option tango.png So, Goreblade's our commanding officer?
You got it. Tribune Bhuer Goreblade's also the head of the Adamant Guard, and a direct descendant of the legendary Drub Gorefang. He's also got a temper, so we'd better not keep him waiting.
Talk back option tango.png Can I ask you another question?
Talk end option tango.png Good point. Let's move out.
Talk end option tango.png Never mind. Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What do you think of my Ghostbore musket plan?
Good design. Killing ghosts is one thing. Your musket does that, and keeps'em deap longer. That's an advantage.
Talk back option tango.png I have another question?
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk end option tango.png Actually, never mind. Let's move out.
Dinky: The faster we find those plans, the faster we can start putting this warband back together.
Talk more option tango.png I have a question.
Yeah. Go ahead. I'll really try to remember more.
Talk more option tango.png Clawspur. Euryale. Reeva and Maverick. What happened to us out there?
After you went in, the brass split us up. I saw the others die. I'm going to miss them, <Character name>. You'll stay with me, though. Right?
Talk back option tango.png Can I ask you something else?
Talk end option tango.png Actually, never mind. Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's lieutenant. Did he die, too?
I forgot about Howl. Oh, wow. I bet the rocks got him! He was in the crypt when it crumbled and sunk. Yup, rocks got him, or he'd be back by now.
Talk more option tango.png What do you mean "the rocks got him"?
When that big ghost died, the whole catacombs crumbled. Anything inside it was pre-buried. That sucks. He was going to give me that shiny amulet thing he found when he died, too. He promised.
Talk back option tango.png Can I ask you something else?
Talk end option tango.png Poor Howl. We'll raise a whiskey to him next time we're at the tavern.
Talk back option tango.png Can I ask something else?
Talk end option tango.png That's sad to hear. C'mon. Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What do you think of my Ghostbore musket plan?
It's bom... bomb...bombastic! Right? Makes a big explosion?
Talk back option tango.png Thanks, Dinky. Hey, can I ask you something else?
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk end option tango.png Sounds good. Let's move out.
Euryale: The faster we find those plans, the faster we can get back to fighting.
Talk more option tango.png I like that plan. Hey, I've got some questions.
Sure I'll try to calm down and give you a straight answer.
Talk more option tango.png Dinky. Clawspur. Reeva and Maverick. What happened to us out there?
After you went in, some stupid, self-absorbed dolyak-face of a centurion split us up. Dinky went down first, then Reeva was surrounded. I tried to help her, but I was...too late.
Talk back option tango.png I need to ask you another question.
Talk end option tango.png Actually, never mind. Let's get going.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's lieutenant. Did he die, too?
Howl? Lost in the fighting, when the crypt went down. Caved right in on him. Bravest of us all. Or the stupidest. Sometimes they're the same.
Talk more option tango.png Lost? Didn't they recover the body?
Nope, nothing. Not even that shiny rock he was always playing with. You remember the one? Lost it to me in our last card game, and wouldn't give it up. Stinker.
Talk back option tango.png Can I ask you another question?
Talk end option tango.png Poor Howl. C'mon. We should get going.
Talk back option tango.png I have another question.
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk end option tango.png Actually, never mind. Let's get going.
Talk more option tango.png What do you think of my Ghostbore musket plans?
Heck of a good design—even the Flame Legion knows it. The better we kill ghosts, the more we can focus on killing Flame zealots. They don't like that. Heh.
Talk back option tango.png I need to ask you another question.
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk end option tango.png Sounds good to me. Let's move out.
Maverick: The faster we find those plans, the faster we can start putting this warband back together.
Talk more option tango.png I've got another question for you, Mav.
Hey, I'm all ears. Handsome, well-brushed ears.
Talk more option tango.png Dinky, Clawspur, Reeva and Euryale. What happened to us out there?
Tactics went all wrong. I told you I should have been legionnaire. We were split up, and it got them all killed. There's only one of me, you know? I can't be everywhere.
Talk back option tango.png I need to ask you another question
Talk end option tango.png Actually, never mind. Let's get going.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's lieutenant. Did he die, too?
Howl? Lost in the fighting, just like the others. I saw him charging into the crypt like a madman-but he never came out. Then the whole thing collapsed. Good way to go, really.
Talk more option tango.png Collapsed? He was trapped in there?
"Trapped" would imply he lived. He didn't. I imagine he's in the Mists now, looking down on us, wearing that crazy amulet he loved, and laughing at us.
Talk back option tango.png Can I ask you another question?
Talk end option tango.png C'mon. Let's move out.
Talk back option tango.png I've got another question for you.
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What can you tell me about the Iron Legion and Tribune Goreblade?
Iron Legion rules Ascalon. It's our ancient homeland, and we've retaken it. Our imperator is Smodur the Unflinching. Tribune like Goreblade serve him directly. They're the general of the Iron Legion army.

Talk back option tango.png Got it. Can I ask you another question?
Talk end option tango.png All right. Let's move out.
Talk end option tango.png Never mind. Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What do you think of my Ghostbore musket plan?
It's excellent. You've designed a good weapon there. I can't wait to be seen using it.
Talk back option tango.png Hey, Mav? Another question?
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Talk end option tango.png Sounds good. Let's move out.
Reeva: Oh! We've got to find those plants[sic]. Quickly! It's out warband's only hope.
Talk more option tango.png I've got another question.
Go ahead and ask. I can handle it.
Talk more option tango.png Dinky, Euryale, Clawspur and Maverick. What happened to us out there?
We were too spread out, and ghosts were everywhere. We couldn't handle it. The others... When we saw what was happening, Euryale told me to run. The last thing I saw was the ghosts cutting her down.
Talk back option tango.png Can I ask you another question?
Talk quest option tango.png Let's get to business. I'll meet you at the scrapyard.
Talk more option tango.png What about Howl? He was our warband's lieutenant. Did he die too?
Howl? Lost in the fighting, when the crypt went down. Caved right in on him. Bravest of us.. or, the stupidest. Sometimes they're the same.
Talk more option tango.png Lost? Didn't they recover the body?
Nope, nothing. Not even that shiny rock he was always playing with. You remember the one? Lost it to me in our last card game, and wouldn't give it up. Stinker.
Talk back option tango.png I need to ask you another question, <Warband Survivor>.
Talk quest option tango.png Let's get to business. I'll meet you at the scrapyard to get the musket parts.
Talk more option tango.png Tell me about the Iron Legion, and Tribune Goreblade?
Iron Legion rules Ascalon. It's our ancient homeland, and we've retaken it. Our Imperator is Smodur the Unflinching. Tribunes like Goreblade serve him directly. They're the generals of the Iron Legion army.
Talk more option tango.png So Goreblade's our commanding officer?
You got it. Tribune Bhuer Goreblade's also the head of the Adamant Guard, and a direct descendent of the legendary Drub Gorefang. He's also got a temper, so we'd better not keep him waiting.
Talk more option tango.png I've got another question.
Talk end option tango.png Actually, never mind. Let's move out.
Talk more option tango.png What do you think of my Ghostbore musket plan?
Heck of a good design—even the Flame Legion knows it. The better we kill ghosts, the more we can focus on killing Flame zealots. They don't like that. Heh.
Talk end option tango.png Let's get down to business. I'll meet you at the scrapyard.
Talk end option tango.png It'll be okay. We'll find them.

Talking to Erracus:

Erracus the Wise: Bhuer told me to stick around in case ya had questions. Ask quick. I'm not gettin' any younger, here.
Talk more option tango.png Do you work for the tribune? What do you do?
Yeah, I'm Tribune Goreblade's aide-de-camp. I send out his orders, write his reports, do the stuff he can't be bothered with. That's me.
Ferocity You seem pretty old for an aide-de-camp.
Well, ain't you full of fire and stupid. I had a good, long career, and now I've settled in with a job that suits me. Think all old charr get put out to pasture? No way, no how, not me.
Talk back option tango.png My apologies. Maybe you can answer something for me.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for your time, sir. I'll move out now.
Talk back option tango.png Hey, do you have time for another question?
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for your time, sir.. I'll move out now.
Talk more option tango.png Who are the Flame Legion?
The Flame Legion are the fourth legion of the charr nation. They took over and enslaved everyone else, centuries ago, but the three legions-Ash, Iron and Blood-eventually broke free. Now we're at war.
Talk more option tango.png Don't they worship some namby-pamby god?
Heh, heh. Yeah, they did a long time ago, but it went all wrong. They're still powerful magic-users, and they follow a mighty imperator of their own. But don't worry, soldier. We'll eradicate them-in time.
Talk back option tango.png I'd like to ask another question.
Talk end option tango.png That's it for now.
Talk more option tango.png What can you tell me about the tribune?
Tribune Goreblade's one of several Iron Legion tribune in the citadel. We get more'n most, because Iron rules these lands. The other two legions are just our guests, invited here to share the fun of rooting out those blasted humans.
Talk more option tango.png Don't they worship some namby-pamby god?
Talk back option tango.png Got it. Hey, do you have time for another question?
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for your time, sir.. I'll move out now.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks for your time. I'll move out now.

As you approach your barracks:

Flame Legion Lookout: Did you hear something?
Flame Legion Lookout: Yeah, I think someone is coming. Tell them to hurry up and find those plans!

Cinematic in your barracks:

Flame Legion Lookout: You there! We know about the Ghostbore musket plans. Hand them over and I'll just leave a scar.
<Characterer name>: Come and get them, zealot. I'll pull off your horns and nail your tail to the floor with 'em.
If male:
Flame Legion Lookout: Oh, I'm going to enjoy roasting you alive.
If female:
Flame Legion Lookout: Okay boys. Time to teach this girl some manners!
Flame Legion Lookout: We're spotted! Kill them before they sound the alarm!
Flame Legion Lookout: They're back! Tear 'em apart, boys!
Flame Legion Axe Fiend: Get them before they get away!
Clawspur: Flame Legion? Inside the citadel? This is bad. Let's hurry and get my plans.
Talk end option tango.png Right. Move out!
Dinky: Flame Legion? Inside the citadel? That's scary!
Talk end option tango.png Don't worry. I'm here.
Euryale: Burn my hide! Flame Legion? Inside the citadel? What in the name of Scorchrazor were they doing here?
Talk end option tango.png I don't know. Let's hurry up and move out.
Maverick: Flame Legion? Infiltrating the Citadel? That's terrible! What if they see me in the shower?
Talk end option tango.png I think that's the least of their concerns. Let's go.
Reeva: Flame Legion? Inside the Citadel? Oh, no! Do you think they were after my secret meat muffin recipe?
Talk end option tango.png I doubt it. Let's get these plans back to the tribune.

Advancing into the barracks:

Flame Legion Stalker: Engaging pursuit!
Flame Legion Stalker: Prepare to suffer!
Flame Legion Stalker: Cover me!
Flame Legion Axe Fiend: We need to hold this area.

After clearing out the visible Flame Legion:

Veteran Flame Legion Infiltrator: It's never a good day until I kill someone.

Investigating the plant holder containing the plans:

Plant Holder: The plant holder is undisturbed. The Flame Legion did not discover your secret compartment.
Talk more option tango.png Open the compartment.
The designs for your Ghostbore musket are right where you left them.
Talk quest option tango.png Take the plans.

Conferring with your warband survivor:

Clawspur: Flame Legion wanted to steal your designs? Daft-eared lunks. Doubt they could even figure out how to read 'em.
Talk more option tango.png If they couldn't, they'd find a way. Hey, I've got another question. Returns to earlier series of questions.
Sure. Ask.
(Other options are the same as before.)
Talk quest option tango.png Let's get down to business. I'll meet you at the scrapyard.
Talk quest option tango.png Makes me even more dead-set to build it. Let's get those parts.
Dinky: Who invited the Flame Legion in? I thought they were strictly outdoor cats.
Talk more option tango.png I have to ask you something. Returns to earlier series of questions.
Yeah. Go ahead. I'll really try to remember more.
(Other options are the same as before.)
Talk quest option tango.png Let's get down to business. I'll meet you at the scrapyard.
Talk quest option tango.png They're trying to stop us from making a prototype. We'd better hurry.
Euryale: The brass didn't say anything about Flame Legion. Good thing they didn't get the plans.
Talk more option tango.png Hey, can I ask you some questions?
Sure. I'll try to calm down and give you a straight answer.
(Other options are the same as before.)
Talk quest option tango.png Let's get down to business. I'll meet you at the scrapyard.
Talk quest option tango.png Agreed. Let's salvage those parts from the wrecking yard.
Maverick: Yeah! I can just sit back and let enemy come to me? All right! I like this lazy-fighting!
Talk more option tango.png Hey, Mav? I have some questions. (Returns to earlier series of questions.)
Hey, I'm all ears. Handsome, well-brushed ears.
(Other options are the same as before.)
Talk quest option tango.png Let's get down to business. I'll meet you at the scrapyard.
Talk quest option tango.png We have a prototype to build. Let's get those parts from the wrecking yard.
Reeva: Flame Legion? By my tail, what were they doing here? Good thing we took care of them, but how did they get in?
Talk more option tango.png I don't know, but we'll find out. Hey, can I ask you a question?
It's okay. I can handle it. Go ahead and ask. (Returns to earlier series of questions.)
Go ahead and ask. I can handle it.
(Other options are the same as before.)
Talk quest option tango.png Let's get down to business. I'll meet you at the scrapyard.
Talk quest option tango.png We still have a prototype to build. Let's get those parts from the wrecking yard.

Speaking with your warband survivor once again before leaving the instance:

Clawspur: I'll meet you outside the junkyard, boss. Boss. Heh, suits you.
Talk more option tango.png Hang on. I have another question. (Returns to earlier series of questions.)
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Dinky: Ready to go, boss! Want me to meet you outside the junkyard?
Talk more option tango.png Hang on, can I ask you a question? Returns to earlier series of questions.
Talk end option tango.png Sounds good. Let's move out.
Euryale: Get a move on. I'll meet you outside the junkyard.
Talk more option tango.png Hang on. I've got some questions. (Returns to earlier series of questions.)
Talk end option tango.png Let's move out.
Maverick: Race you to the wrecking yard!
Talk more option tango.png Hold on a second, I want to ask you a question. (Returns to earlier series of questions.)
Talk end option tango.png Sounds good. Let's move out.
Reeva: I think I remember where the wrecking yard is. I'll meet you there!
Talk more option tango.png I've got another question. (Returns to earlier series of questions.)
Talk end option tango.png Meet you there.
