Walkthrough[edit]

Eir Stegalkin will meet you at the instance entrance and a kodan named Followed by Night will approach. Talking with her will start the cinematic and she will ask you to defeat a dredge, known as the Overminer, and bring back his weapon.

Wolves are in the forest, but if you stick to the road as you head to the dredge cave you can avoid fighting them. Enter the cave and make your way to the north side of the green objective circle, where you will find the Overminer - kill him and take his weapon (the Overminer's Boomstick, which grants you some weapon skills while held) as a trophy.

A single group of dredge will appear just as you move to pick up the weapon. Return to Followed by Night by the same path that you originally took and you can avoid further fighting entirely.

Dialogue[edit]

Talking to Eir after entering:

Eir Stegalkin: This should be interesting. I haven't had extensive dealings with the kodan—no one has—but I know this is as far south as they've come.
Talk more option tango.png Why are they this far south? Did Jormag drive them down here, too?
I believe so. Their sanctuaries have come under attack lately by Jormag's minions. We have a lot in common with them, though they don't seem to like us.
Talk end option tango.png If they help me get back Romke's horn, I don't care if they like me.
Talk end option tango.png Maybe they can help us. Let's find Followed by Night.

Talking to Followed by Night (cinematic):

Eir Stegalkin: Honored kodan, I come to see if you will hear the plea of a descendant of Romke. Do you know that name?
Followed by Night: Yes! Romke is well known in our tales as a strange but honorable southerner. If you brought me one of his line, I'll listen.
<Character name>: I promise that you'll want to hear this. My ancestor carried a horn given to him by the kodan. It was passed down to me.
<Character name>: It was stolen from me before I knew of its magical power. Now I need to find the horn before there are dire consequences.
Followed by Night: Your ancestor was wise in many ways, and a trusted ally of the kodan. But you...I do not know you yet, other than your tale of loss. So, in Koda's name, prove yourself to me.
Followed by Night: The dredge to the south ravage the land. Their mine director calls himself "The Overminer." Kill him and bring me proof of his death. In return, I will tell you all I know of the Horn of Resounding.
<Character name>: A worthwhile cause. The dredge plague both our races. I'll handle this "Overminer" and we'll talk again.

Talking to Followed by Night:

Followed by Night: You made a promise, Norn. Keep it, and then we will talk.
Talk end option tango.png I'm on my way to do just that.

Talking to Eir:

Eir Stegalkin: It seems that these kodan have a special hatred for the dredge. Interesting.
Talk more option tango.png She said they were "ravaging the land." What does that mean?
I'd say the kodan don't approve of the dredge strip-mining the land out from under them. I can't say I blame them.
Talk end option tango.png Agreed. Let's get going, we need that dredge weapon to learn more about my horn.

In the entrance to the dredge mines:

Eir Stegalkin: The dredge use sonic attacks to take down their foes. Alone, they are weak, but in groups, they can be powerful opponents. Fight smart.
Eir Stegalkin: The Overminer is a strong leader. He will take cunning to defeat. Be on your guard.

Upon finding the Overminer:

Overminer: Invaders! Kill them, comrades!

Cinematic after defeating the Overminer:

Eir Stegalkin: A fine battle! You fought with such skill, such precision. The dredge were no match for you.
<Character name>: For us, you mean. Two heroes are better than one.
Eir Stegalkin: Of course. These challenges will prepare you well for taking up the mantle of leadership. Now grab the weapon. Followed by Night owes us a story.

Talking to Eir after defeating the Overminer but before picking the weapon:

Eir Stegalkin: You handled that well. Learn to tend that spark of leadership, and it will grow into a fire. Feed that fire with wisdom, and you will go far.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks, Eir. That means a lot coming from you.

Talking to Eir after getting the Overminer's Broomstick:

Eir Stegalkin: Let's get the weapon back to Followed by Night. Then we can learn more about your lost horn.
Talk end option tango.png The sooner, the better.

Cinematic after returning to Followed by Night:

Followed by Night: At last. The Overminer will no longer tear out the heart of the land. You have satisfied Koda, and I will aid you.
Followed by Night: I have sensed a recent disruption in the balance of the land. I imagine it is this Son of Svanir you mention, this Varg. When he summons creatures with the horn, only more imbalance results.
Followed by Night: I have witnessed many active Sons of Svanir in Drakentelt. The disruption seems centered there.
<Character name>: Drakentelt is a short jaunt south of here. If Varg is there with my horn, it should be simple enough to take it back.
Followed by Night: I will find you there and lend you Koda's strength. My people created this horn. We will help you find it.
Eir Stegalkin: Yes. The slayer and I started this together, and we'll finish it that way. But we also wish to know more about the kodan people, and we welcome your presence.

Talking to Followed by Night after final cinematic:

Followed by Night: I will meet you at Drakentelt, young norn. Together, we shall see this through.
Talk more option tango.png I'm curious about the kodan. How come we rarely see you?
Our floating sanctuaries provide us with the shelter and solitude we need to hone our spiritual discipline. We seek to preserve the world's balance and to attain enlightenment.
Talk more option tango.png I understand that. But why have you come so far south?
Our sanctuaries have been attacked by minions of the Ice Dragon. We sailed here for safety, but also to restore a world badly out of balance.
Talk more option tango.png We norn made a similar journey. And we also ran into trouble with the dredge.
Vile, deluded creatures. Dredge bore through the world like worms in an apple, working only for themselves. What's left is of no use to anyone else.
Talk end option tango.png No argument here. Don't worry. Eir and I stopped the Overminer.
Talk end option tango.png Very well. I'll meet you there.

Talking to Eir after final cinematic (repeats previous dialolgue):

Eir Stegalkin: You handled that well. Learn to tend that spark of leadership, and it will grow into a fire. Feed that fire with wisdom, and you will go far.
Talk end option tango.png Thanks, Eir. That means a lot coming from you.

My story[edit]

Among the Kodan.jpg

After proving our worth against a common enemy, the kodan Followed by Night told us Romke's horn was being kept at the Sons of Svanir camp near Drakentelt.
