Resolved issues

This page is for reporting bugs that you may encounter in the wiki. This does not cover in-game issues that you may encounter, nor does it cover page contents within individual articles.

  • If you are experiencing an in-game bug or issue that requires technical support, check the Guild Wars 2 support forums.
  • If you are experiencing difficulties getting past a specific part of the game, use the "Search" box on the left to find the specific quest, mission, or region that you are finding difficult. You can review any tips on that page, and discuss it on that page's talk page if more help is needed.
  • If you have a problem with contents of a page, use the associated talk page.

Please review existing bug reports before creating a new one. If you add a bug not related to the wiki (such as a bug in the game itself), the report may be removed with no action taken.

When reporting a new bug, be sure to provide a description of the problem, your wiki username, the information from any error message received, and any additional comments that may help someone reproduce and troubleshoot the suspected bug.

Trouble loading pages since server move

moved to Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Reporting wiki bugs/Loading problems

After moving to a new server on 17th August 2010, pages have been intermittently hard to load. The extensive discussion and reports were moved to the above subpage; they are continuing there. This remains an open issue. pling User Pling sig.png 20:31, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Max file size

Is now 15MB. Is it intended? (Not that I'm complaining ;-) Chriskang 11:22, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Bad input (partially solved)

I cannot upload images ATM. I keep getting the following:

"We're sorry - the server could not accept your request. Often this is due to too many characters such as "><|--;="' being used. Please try removing these characters or reducing your post size. If you still experience problems please contact NA Customer Support or EU Customer Support using the subject line ?Issue with official website?. "

What the? I'm trying to upload a simple jpeg and I'm doing nothing different than I usually do. I have a summary added too but it's quite short and I even made it shorter and got the same error again. Neither it nor the file name or destination name has any of those characters in it either. I'm thinking it's on the wiki's side. Previously Unsigned 06:46, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

No idea what the problem was but it wouldn't accept the file. Everything else would. Fixed though. Previously Unsigned 07:40, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
Solved the reason why it happens now and can do it on command. If you resize the image in the SFW window it always happens. Not at other image sites, no idea why this wiki. So instead resize it via Image > Image Size not in SFW window. Previously Unsigned 22:02, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Same here today. I've got more skill animations ready but can't upload them because of this bug. Should I just wait and hope for it to disappear by itself or is there something I can do? Care to explain what you mean by "SFW window", Previously?Chriskang 18:01, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
The Save For Web window in Photoshop [1]. If you resize them in there, it will always give a bad input error when you try to upload it. I thought that was the real problem. Guess it's just one thing that could cause it. Updated the title. Previously Unsigned 00:02, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
I got this problem today. Couldn't upload an image I'd cropped. Another from the same video, same crop tool uploaded without a problem. Weird. -- Aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 08:07, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
I've received this error several times, but I was not doing anything with images. I was attempting to create a table. Standard table, nothing fancy. Problem is that when I get the error, I cannot get to any other page on the wiki (including RC). Everytime I load a new page I get the bad input error. The only way to get rid of it is to shut down my browser (firefox) and run ccleaner. When I reset it'll work again. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 13:22, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
The creation of the error may have been my fault, I may have had some extra characters. But is it normal to have to run third party programs to correct this? Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 13:35, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
The block page usually provides a support ID. Anyone have a support ID for this? --NCsoft dude without an account 23:59, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Another user has posted the same issue and the support ID is: 10522062459690089894.
Hope that helps to solve the issue, thanks for the heads up! User ***EAGLEMUT*** Signature.png ***EAGLEMUT*** TALK 19:43, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Found solution below... Sorry for reviving the dead... Mighty 16:19, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Session Issues

Is it just me, or is there a serious problem with the log in system? I sometimes find myself logging in, only to find myself returned to the page without my session data being displayed. When I try to edit a page, I sometimes found that I have been logged out, even after trying 2-3 times. Anyone else having this issue?--67.142.171.22 13:36, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Server time

I've been experiencing this for a few days now; the server time has a tendency of randomly jumping 5 minutes into the future on some edits, whereas others remain on the present time. This is not harming the wiki drastically, except it screws up the recent changes pretty badly. Sometimes new edits don't show at the top of RC and this could lead to misinterpretation of edits at some point. I checked and it's not just me. I thought it was a very brief issue, but it's on-going for a while now, so I thought I'd mention it here. - Infinite - talk 18:52, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Yes I experienced this the other day but haven't seen it since. I had two posts switched on recent changes, and the change on one of the posts wasn't visible on the page until some time after it appeared on RC.
It is a bit annoying but it is better than the servers randomly forgetting my page requests. :) -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 20:01, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
It's been reported on GWW too. pling User Pling sig.png 21:08, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
I just noticed this myself. It's rather odd! ShadowRunner 19:39, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
LOL I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE! :O --19pxThe Holy Dragons 19:52, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

I think this just happened on Profession. The history shows the following edits in this order, which is incorrect:

(cur) (prev) 00:35, 24 January 2011 98.163.88.73 (Talk | block) (3,210 bytes) (→Scholars) (rollback | undo)
(cur) (prev) 00:34, 24 January 2011 Eive Windgrace (Talk | contribs | block) m (3,169 bytes) (Undo revision 107627 by 98.163.88.73 (Talk) Yeah.. no.) (undo)
(cur) (prev) 00:34, 24 January 2011 98.163.88.73 (Talk | block) (3,199 bytes) (→Adventurers) (undo)
(cur) (prev) 00:33, 24 January 2011 IcyyyBlue (Talk | contribs | block) (3,169 bytes) (Undo revision 107629 by 98.163.88.73 (Talk)Speculation is nono) (undo)

IcyyyBlue's edit was in reality made after 98.163.88.73's second edit, not before his first. However, scrolling through the diffs displays the edits in the correct order (but with the same, incorrect timestamp as the history) - starting with this diff. In particular, note the time goes from 00:35 to 00:33 for Icyyyblue's edit. I would guess that revisions' IDs are correct but their times aren't (under the assumption that diffs are ordered by IDs and histories by time). pling User Pling sig.png 00:54, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

That's probably a very accurate guess. If you view the diff, you can view a "newer" edit, at which point it sorts the next given time. It looks like a revert that doesn't show up in History. It's interesting, but I'm more concerned about RC's state regarding this bug. - Infinite - talk 09:13, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I'm going to jinx this with saying it seems to have been resolved. :) - Infinite - talk 17:50, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

New images special page not working?

I wanted to take a look at what was uploaded today and I can't seem to get to the new images page. Is anyone else afflicted with the same? I'm still able to view the concept art pages and stuff without much delay - but the new images gallery just doesn't ever load. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 10:27, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

I can't seem to access it either. ShadowRunner 11:06, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Neither can I. -- Northern Lights | T  | 11:16, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
I am able to get to it now. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 22:17, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
*Ahem* I feel it necessary to mention this started happening immediately after I uploaded a certain GIF that now resides in my sandbox. As my theory goes, none of you should be able to go to the second page of New images. If it was indeed my fault, I apologize for the inconvenience. EiveTalk 22:27, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Er, you're correct... you broke the wiki! ShadowRunner 22:28, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Is it the globe? I can't load that image. ShadowRunner 22:30, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Is this issue sharing origin with the long loads....? - Infinite - talk 22:33, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
I think it's seperate to the server load issues, but can't be sure :/ ShadowRunner 22:35, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Eive...I do believe that your theory is correct. Why is it doing what it's doing...I'm not sure? (Could we possibly get a sysop to delete the globe thing and see if the problem goes away?) Aqua (T|C) 22:36, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) (Edit conflict) @Shadow Runner: Yep. I managed to magically tag a speedy delete on it, but I think the sysops have to actually load the page to delete it. :( @Infi, I don't believe so. The long loads are typically random, while this seems targeted to my globe GIF. @Aqua Perhaps I could upload a new version of it? The only problem with that is that if it doesn't work I'll wind up blocking New images for awhile again. EiveTalk 22:39, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Random it may be, but this time they both appeared at the same time. We should test it. - Infinite - talk 22:42, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

OMG, why do you people ignore me ;_; ;_; ;_; Erasculio 22:42, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) x2 I would suggest not uploading it again until we find out if deletion fixes the problem... Aqua (T|C) 22:43, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
This section was here first I think Eras :P ShadowRunner 22:44, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Indeed it was. EiveTalk 22:44, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Eive, I can't get to the page (the page of ur gif image)... (Should we put something on admin noticeboard?) Aqua (T|C) 22:45, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Eive, can you access the page? Aqua (T|C) 22:46, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
My sandbox or the file's page? EiveTalk 22:46, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
File's. I can access your sandbox fine. Aqua (T|C) 22:47, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
I can't access the page itself, but I can edit it. And any changes save. EiveTalk 22:48, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
What do you mean? As in, can you get to the page and see the tabs at the top? (or does the image not load)? Aqua (T|C) 22:49, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
The issues are extremely likely to be connected and we need to give Eive and Eras a cookie for appointing it. - Infinite - talk 22:51, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) (Let me speak people!) @Aqua The page doesn't load. But, by replacing a portion of the url for editing another page I can edit the file's page. Anything that involves viewing the page is beyond me. @Infi, yay? EiveTalk 22:52, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Eive, can you or can you not see the tabs? Aqua (T|C) 22:53, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Cannot, good sir. EiveTalk 22:54, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Then sysops can't access it to delete it. (Atleast, not in the typical way.) This is a problem. Aqua (T|C) 22:55, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Dammit Eive! *shakes fist* ShadowRunner 22:56, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Wait wait wait. The tabs on the edit page would be the same as the tabs on the page itself right? Could a sysop delete from the edit screen? EiveTalk 22:58, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Ima go test it on a random wiki I admin for. Aqua (T|C) 23:00, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Yes, it is available from the edit. Aqua (T|C) 23:00, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) x2 Yes, that would be possible. - Infinite - talk 23:01, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Eive, What is the file name? Aqua (T|C) 23:02, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I've linked to the edit mode of that file on the admin noticeboard. Hopefully, an admin will swoop in and delete it, and the problem will go away. Aqua (T|C) 23:04, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) (Edit conflict) Guys. Eras already cried (<3) because of /ignore: The server loading issue is coherent with specific file uploads, also causing this issue. We need to identify the origin of the issue exactly and make sure to prevent it in the future (and brief ArenaNet). - Infinite - talk 23:06, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Eive, what program did you use to create it and did you save any other information with it? (Like file data on some images.) - Infinite - talk 23:16, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Photoshop CS4, from the map on User:Naut/Club Debate. And I do not believe any extra data was added. On a side note, I heard that the maximum file size was changed recently, might want to look into that? EiveTalk 23:19, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
If you still have it saved; what is the size there? - Infinite - talk 23:28, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
2.15 Mb. EiveTalk 23:29, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
And can anyone remember the old limit for files? - Infinite - talk 23:33, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Could have sworn it was actually 2 mb. Don't quote me on that though. EiveTalk 23:36, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
In 2008 it was, I'm not sure if it was increased to 5 mb before going to 15 or not. Back in 2008, I kinda broke GW1W after uploading dozens of very large .gifs, but it caused a different issue (pages worked fine, but we couldn't upload anything else). Erasculio 23:44, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Unrelated to file size, issue is now fixed, thanks Tanetris. Sorry everyone. EiveTalk 23:53, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I just want to share that the Shatterer animation was another file over 2mB in file size and that was uploaded on the same date as when the first server loading issues started. Coincidence, I think not. - Infinite - talk 00:05, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

File size limit was changed from 2MB to 15MB on the 17th August 2010, during the wiki maintenance that took place this day. I'm 100% sure of that because it was the time were I was uploading animations nearly every day and I wrote a message above on this page immediatly afterwards. And indeed server issues also started this day. If it's really the cause of the problems, it should be changed back to 2MB. Is it something that sysops can do? Chriskang 09:00, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
I have informed then on IRC. We can wait for their reply. - Infinite - talk 10:10, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
While I'm reasonably sure it would take Anet making the change server-side to reduce the upload limit, and Poke could speak better to whether large files might be responsible, I'll note there's an easy list, so if someone wants to replace them with smaller versions, go for it. Of the ones over 2mb, the Bone Minions animation looks like the only one that actually has a reason to be the size it is. - Tanetris 13:40, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
Though that date is inconsistent with the issue origin. Let's better be safe than sorry and reduce the file size of at least all .gif files above 1.9 MB from the issue date onwards. This involves only 2 file, here and here and we can check if the problems persist after those changes. - Infinite - talk 13:53, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
TL;DR. The problem you are experiencing is really because of some animated GIF. MediaWiki autmatically tries to create thumbnails of any image file when you want to look at a smaller version. In your case, you want to look at that special page that displays thumbnails of all new images. This would work fine if there was already a thumbnail for that GIF. However, there isn't any, so the server tries to create one. Naturally with big, animated GIFs this takes quite long, so the server passes the maximum execution time for scripts (usually 30s), and just stops. As the GIF thumbnail is not created by that time, the next request will try to generate the thumbnail again... and so on.
We had the same problem at GWW some longer time ago, when we started uploading skill animations. We fixed it with a special setting, that tells MediaWiki, when to not create animated thumbnails of animated GIFs (i.e. nearly all files should just get a static thumbnail). Obviously this setting was not carried over to GW2W.. (surprise, surprise!). Maybe we can get that somewhere in the future, until then, try to avoid those special pages (or any page that shows thumbnails of your animated GIFs). Deleting is however not necessary. poke | talk 14:02, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for elaboration, it appears we were correct about what animations caused this issue. I hope there won't be any issues in the future now everything is clear. :) - Infinite - talk 14:07, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
The increase in file-size limit and the slowdown are probably both effects of the server "maintenance", rather than the limit being the cause of the slowdown. pling User Pling sig.png 14:29, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
So it means that, while this "special setting" is not in place on GW2W, any large GIF (let's say larger than 1.5MB) might create another "new files" crash, right? In the case, wouldn't it be wiser to stop uploading any skill animation until the setting is activated? Chriskang 19:59, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
No, this generally shouldn't prevent anyone from uploading files. Just avoid the pages that display thumbnails for the images (and make the categories __NOGALLERY__). Oh and no Pling, the thumbnail creation of animated GIFs, or rather its inability to do so, has little to do with any file size limit or maintenance (i.e. server capacity). It's just that the mechanisms behind are just very ineffective at working with animated GIFs. That applies to any server and nearly every animated GIF. poke | talk 22:56, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Search engine

Can someone please tell me why the search engine is not able to find a single page containing the word "welcome" when I search in all namespaces? Chriskang 13:52, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Funny. Also I second that question. - Infinite - talk 21:19, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

It's meant to. The issue is that big, it has its own sub-page. - Infinite - talk 23:51, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Server errors

They're intermittent, so if I refresh the page (once or more times), it will load fine. It's happening quite frequently at the moment. No known notice of maintenance scheduled so, yeah. It happens on every page on this wiki, the other websites that I am currently using work fine. Using chrome. --Xu Davella 14:58, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Moving a certain article

When I try to move this article to the non-capitalized ( Hamstring (dog skill) ) counterpart, I get an error that is nested deeper than the wiki itself, advising me to contact support directly. Is there a known cause for this? It only occurs for that article, as far as I am aware. - Infinite - talk 20:02, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Same. Got a bad input error, "Your support ID is: 9831673289861891381". (For clarity's sake, it happens when Hamstring (Dog skill) is moved to Hamstring (dog skill)) pling User Pling sig.png 20:07, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
I forwarded this to our teams and will try to keep you updated. Do not hesitate to ping me if I haven't responded by mid-January. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 21:24, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

This page move was prevented by one of our security block and it looks complicated to change. So what will happen is the following: they're going to allow the change just for a short period, but the problem may happen again. I'll communicate the timing as soon as I know it. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 20:03, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

I took the liberty of making the move myself, so the new page has the correct name.--Stephane Lo Presti talk 21:13, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Image upload - Bad input

Error: We're sorry - the server could not accept your request. Often this is due to too many characters such as "><|--;="' being used. Please try removing these characters or reducing your post size. If you still experience problems please contact NA Customer Support or EU Customer Support using the subject line ?Issue with official website?. I was attempting to upload an image name that contained only one of the aforementioned characters, a "-". The image name also contained 3 spaces, which hasn't been an issue before. The support ID for this error is: 594399869064604009. This is probably user error, but I will try again later. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 20:17, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Just a quick note (happy NEw Year everyone!) to let you know that I've been following the first bug with our teams for a while and I've used this second bug to ask for an update. I'll let you know what I can find. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 21:08, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Stephane. I'm not sure if they are related (obviously), but i would doubt they are. Of course I have no experience in the matter, but the above error seems more of an allocation type whereas mine appears to be input. Again, I'm talking out my ass again. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 21:23, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

The problem is that your image triggers some blocks based on the analysis of its content. What is suggested is that you edit the image, possibly going for a different format (.jpg?), and see if you can upload it. Let me know if you still can't go past the problem. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 20:06, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

MediaWiki API issue on image redirect

It seems like if the skill icon image is set to redirect to the skill page, the API to query for the image's URL stops showing up. I'm not sure if this is just Guild Wars wiki problem or in all Media Wiki.

Signature Bug

I'm unsure what exactly the problem is here but whenever I sign my comments I get a weird error. Never seen this before on other wiki's and couldn't find a proper solution. Of course this may not be a bug and may I have some type of setting on or off that I'm unfamiliar with. The looks like this "{{SUBST:User:Thelordoflard/Sig}} 18:12, 5 April 2012 (UTC)". I'm no wiki expert. Ty for any help provided :) {{SUBST:User:Thelordoflard/Sig}} 18:31, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Have you made your signature page yet? --JonTheMon 18:41, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
It's recommended not to use a userpage to insert your sig, since it can be edited by anyone. It's better to put the code directly into the preferences box (with the "treat signatures as wikitext" box ticked). pling User Pling sig.png 19:02, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Doesn't help, I tried that and other ways including special wiki command forcing it remove cache. -- Sagi User Sagittario Asura symbol.png 11:23, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Icon images are not updating example Blueberry Cookie.pngBlueberry Cookie.png on Chef#Dessert page. Rudhraighe 14:59, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
Another option to fix this (probably) is to null edit the affected articles. Simply click edit, don't change anything, and hit submit. This calls the templates and images anew, in their latest versions. - Infinite - talk 15:04, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Skills data is no missing all data

Just wondering if this is intended and if it an overhaul? As before in each skill you could find notes on range, duration and the like. Now they have gone but looking at the change history it looks like they have become variables. So I am just curious if this is a bug or an overhaul? Thanks. Vauleen 13 May 2012

Yes, it's an overhaul. The template that displays them was rewritten, and we're working on updating the skill pages to use the new format. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 19:14, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Guild Wars 2 Wiki error

I've had this error a few times recently navigating to a page. It simply says "Guild Wars 2 Wiki error" and instructs that a particular flag be switched on to see an exception. Reloading the page brings up the content page without problem. I know we're on the cusp of an upgrade but I thought I'd better mention it anyway. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 16:09, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

It seem I have post my section(bellow) at the same time then aspectacle, I also wanted to say I have been also getting that problem alot in between error 500. Tech Wolf-Talk 16:15, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
I'm also getting this error message all the time. No 500s, though. Erasculio 12:03, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
Getting the same error as well every now and then; more on the now rather than then. This happens in simple navigation and not just trying to save edits. Any answers, or is this something that might need to be brought up in the upcoming Wikichat? Redshift 02:20, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
just adding a note that I started getting this problem at around the time that the new official wikis went live. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 15:05, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Same here; all kinds of errors. It's actually a relief to see it's the wiki (or the server anyway) because i recently changed my provider subscription and started to fear that had been a bad idea. Did anyone report it yet to Stéphane? --EeUser Ee sig.png 16:12, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Just got a rather odd variant of this: File:User Tanetris partial load bug.jpg. Looking at the source code for the page, it looks like the normal HTML got abruptly cut off at <li id="ca-addsection"><a href="/index.php?title=User_talk:Pling&action=edit&section=new" and then straight into the HTML code of the error message: <html> <head> <title>Guild Wars 2 Wiki error</title> </head> <body> <h1><img src='/skins/common/images/Gw2logo.png' style='float:left;margin-right:1em' alt=''/>Guild Wars 2 Wiki error</h1> <p>Set <b><tt>$wgShowExceptionDetails = true;</tt></b> at the bottom of LocalSettings.php to show detailed debugging information.</p></body></html> - Tanetris 00:28, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
That can happen due to how the MW parser works - it's more than likely the same error, just manifesting at a different point in the parsing process. I've seen it a couple times in the past week or so, myself. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 01:44, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

lots of error 500

I have been getting lots of error 500 this past week. I mostly get them when editing page, seem like I have a chance out of 3 to get error 500. I also get it sometime while navigating the wiki. User Pages messed up

Not sure why, but since the changes to the main page, something has really messed up my User pages. The line spacing before and after some of the links are doubled for some reason, and they weren't before.--Enda - talk 04:21, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Upon further scrutiny, it's not the links, it's the "Bullet List" style I'm using. Everywhere I change from one asterisk to two, or two to one, there's a double line feed.--Enda - talk 04:28, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Flashing white bar at the top of all pages

When #pt-timer updates every second it flashes a white bar at the top of every page that spans the entire width of the page.

Um. Some details would be handy. Also, it helps us if sign your comment with a ~~~~ Minimal details would at least include Web Browser brand + version, and given this problem, ensuring your java/javascript components and video drivers are all up to date would be handy, as those all play a role in the clock and the updates may actually resolve the issue. Graphical elements at the wrong size?

I have no idea if it's only me, but some images and other graphical elements are not being displayed at the size they were expected to have. Using a simple example, this imge: the wiki claims it's a image with 56 × 60 pixels, and right-clicking on it and selecting "Image properties" gives me the same size, but if I take a screenshot of my screen and measure the image, it appears to have at least 60x65 pixels. Likewise, this template is set to have a width of 238 pixels; but when taking a screenshot of my screen and measuring it manually, the template actually has a width of 262 pixels. Also, when trying to use the wiki command to show an image with a fixed pixel size, such as [[File:Mighty Green Inscription.png|50px]], the result is an image that actually measures more or less 56x56 pixels, instead of the expected 50x50 pixels. I'm reading the wiki under Firefox with a 1920x1200 resolution, in case this matters... Is this happening to someone else? I'm beginning to be worried that the content I see isn't the same everyone else is seeing. Erasculio 02:51, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

May I suggest: Hold down control. Spin your mousewheel until the image is the correct size. Browsers these days have controls for adjusting the size of what they display. The image backing what is drawn on screen will be a discrete size, but the browser is not required to display it at that size, and the wiki does not override that scaling. —Torrenal 04:04, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

I thought it could be some kind of throttling, but I am still able to move other pages, so it appears to be a repeat of whatever called the issue with Hamstring (dog skill). This restriction also seems to be in place for File:Shadow Return.png and File:Shadow Return (Shadowstep).png.

In case the same manual approach is used to solve this again, the correct locations should be Shadow Return->Shadow Return (thief sword skill), File.Shadow Return.png->File:Shadow Return (thief sword skill).png, Shadow Return (Shadowstep)->Shadow Return (thief utility skill) and File.Shadow Return (Shadowstep).png->File:Shadow Return (thief utility skill).png. Slow page loads, missing images/styling, etc

I've been noticing serious page loading problems over the past 2-3 days. It seems to be worse around this time of day, in my experience. Pages often take well beyond 60 seconds to load, and when they do load they may be missing images or styling. Additionally, I'm frequently being redirected to the scheduled maintenance page and/or getting timeouts (aka the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading). Cannot create account, Wiki not configured correctly

he wiki thinks I'm coming from 192.168.104.28 which is likely their caching server, since mediawiki is not configured properly to take the proxy into account it wont let us create accounts since the account creation throttle is set to 2 accounts per ip per 24 hours.

Wiki Not Creating Thumbnails of Images

Half the time when I upload an image, the wiki shoots to an error page, even though sometimes it may have succeeded anyway. Then when inserting the image into an article, I've found that whenever I try to put a thumbnail of the image into the article I get an error of "file not found" despite the fact that if I insert the full-size image it works fine. I've only been using gif files. Anyone else having this issue?

I can confirm that. Usually it seems to sort itself within a few hours, but on Steam Hulk the thumb error persists. The image is shown and resized correctly on the file page File:Steam_Hulk.jpg
Error creating thumbnail: /home/httpd/guildwars2/gw2/bin/ulimit4.sh: line 4: /usr/bin/convert: No such file or directory.
I've deliberately not tried re-uploading the image so the error can be seen in action. --Zerebruin 08:37, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
Confirmed also. This appears to be a misconfiguration on the server (that's a Linux error it's outputting), though I don't know exactly what the cause is. For reference, I was editing this page and got this error. SpikeX 01:48, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
Apparently, the system is just slow and needs time to process the images since all images are displayed correctly now. That is confusing and should be fixed but not a priority, I guess. According to this Mediawiki talk [2] it's related to ImageMagick memory allocation. - Zerebruin 09:43, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Stacking multiple stacked items is broken

Currently, stacking item in a quantity that seems to exceed the stacking limit makes the additionnal items disapear.

This is happening if you join a stack of 2 Killstreak Experience booster with a stack of 3 Killstreak Experience booster and you'll end up with only a stack of 3 killstreak experience booster instead of a stack of 5. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.80.85.19 (talk).

When I use four tildes to sign in without logging in, the address is the 192.xxx.xxx.xxx from my router (useless), and not the external IP provided by my ISP. 192.168.104.81 17:00, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Actually, it appears to be worse than that. The IP listed above (192.168.104.81) is not my address; I don't know what it is. (I am the OP for this post, even though the two posts show different IPs.) 192.168.104.83 17:03, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Android browsing issues

When browsing the wiki on my phone, the entire browser will spontaneously crash when I try to load a page. Generally, I can click a few links before it crashes, and I've never had an issue opening a wiki page in a new window or loading a wiki page from another site, but browsing the wiki normally (i.e. following article links to related topics) will cause the crash (and lose all my other windows as well). I haven't had this issue on other sites, including GWW, and I believe it started around the time the caching issues began, though I can't be sure. However, the fixes to the caching issues haven't fixed my phone browsing issues.

My phone is an HTC G2 on T-Mobile USA. The phone is still under factory settings (locked, etc) and running Android 2.3.4 with the default browser app. Other than some issues with an occassionally sluggish processor and lower battery life, the phone is essentially in factory condition. The issue occurs semi-randomly and independant of my internet connection (wifi, 2g, 3g, HSPA, HSPA+, or whatever else I might have at the time).

If there's anything I'm doing wrong or any more information I can provide, I'd be happy to do so. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 19:52, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

It started fairly recently - I first noticed it at launch, or around then (I'm not completely certain because I don't visit wiki on my phone that often). Firefox didn't crash, but the font size is always either way too large or way too small, making the wiki practically unreadable. Dolphin I believe had the same issue. My friend's phone (also a G2, same treatment, etc) acted the same way. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 20:27, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
